the last 2 weeks in nyc it has been “do the right thing” hot. summer is 100% here with no chance of the heat letting up… this got me to thinking about inevitable cookouts and hanging out with friends just drinking and talking ish under the summer sun. well for 2010, there is a perfect soundtrack to these mandatory events of summer.
aptly titled “summertime” jazzy jeff x mick boogie have compiled a playlist of absolute heat to go with the summer. featuring tracks from quincy jones to de la soul this will only make these days of summer even hotter (yes, that’s a good thing)
You probably don’t want to miss out on this. “This super-deluxe edition celebrates one of the most remarkable albums in Miles Davis’s career and jazz history in general. Originally released in 1970, Bitches Brew became Davis’s first gold album. This anniversary 4-disc package offers the original album on CD plus an audiophile vinyl pressing on 2 LPs; previously unissued material including extensive live performances of much of the same music including a DVD of the entire Copenhagen performance from November 4, 1969. Also included is a 48-page 12×12 book, memorabilia envelope, and large fold out poster.”
here’s a excerpt from a series of home videos tilted “the high school graduate” of the louis vuitton don living in jersey city, new jersey early 2001. you catch kanye in studio with rhymefest working on what appears to be a demo tape for rhymefest, later in the vid we hear an early version of jesus walks! interesting tidbit, rhymefest actually had a verse on jesus walks! wonder what happened there?? finally ye plays a joint called “living a movie” where he built an entire song off of his dvd collection.
so sit back enjoy some pre taylor swift kanye, pre amber rose kanye. pre “george bush don’t care about black people” kanye. quiet refreshing to see his creativity in the early days, dude even has the motorola 2way pager on! i’m sure more of these early home movies will be released as his latest album nears completion.
